What this free check looks at
When you can't tell if your website is working, we check everything that matters from an outside network—the same view your customers have. Here's what the schnauzer sniffs out:
- Uptime and reachability — Is your site loading at all? We check from a different network so you know if it's down for everyone or just you.
- SSL certificate — Is your security certificate valid? Expired or misconfigured SSL makes browsers show scary warnings that scare customers away.
- Domain registration — When does your domain expire? If it lapses, your website and email both stop working.
- DNS health — Are your DNS records pointing where they should? Broken DNS means your domain can't find your website.
- Browser warnings — Is Google flagging your site as unsafe? We check Safe Browsing status so you know if visitors are seeing warnings.
- Email delivery setup — Are the basic email settings in place? Missing records can land your business emails in spam folders.
Squarespace status green but your site isn't loading?
status.squarespace.com tracks Squarespace's platform, not your custom domain. When yourbusiness.com won't load but Squarespace status is green, it's usually DNS settings, an expired SSL certificate, or domain registration issues—not Squarespace itself. Run the check above to see what's broken, or read our full Squarespace troubleshooting guide.
Down for everyone, or just me?
That's the question every small-business owner asks when their site won't load. The problem is, when you're checking from your own computer or phone, you can't tell if the site is actually down or if it's just your internet connection, your Wi-Fi, or a cached page that won't refresh.
An outside check from a different network and location answers that immediately. If we can reach your site, the problem is on your end (restart your router, clear your browser cache, or try a different device). If we can't reach it either, your site is down for everyone—and you know you need to contact your web host or whoever manages your site.

What's the difference between the free check and KeepPaw monitoring?
The free check is a one-time snapshot. KeepPaw monitoring runs 24/7 and checks your site every minute, emailing you in plain English as soon as an outage is confirmed—and again when it's fixed. Plans start at $9/month for 1 site (Sit plan) or $19/month for up to 10 sites (Heel plan). Every plan includes a 14-day free trial with no credit card required.
Squarespace status is green but my site is still down. What's wrong?
Squarespace's status page tracks their platform, not your custom domain. When yourbusiness.com won't load but status.squarespace.com is green, the problem is usually DNS settings, an expired SSL certificate, or domain registration issues. How long does the website check take?
The check takes about 1 minute. We run multiple probes in parallel (uptime, SSL, DNS, domain expiry, browser warnings, email health) so you get a complete picture quickly.
